Former CIA Analysts Larry Johnson and Ray McGovern Unpack the ’12-Day War’ Between IRAN and Israel, Backed by the United States

Former CIA analysts Larry Johnson and Ray McGovern discuss the bombing of Iran by Israel on June 13, 2025 when Israel launched surprise attacks on key military and nuclear facilities in Iran. The US initially denied knowledge of the attacks, but Trump quickly began voicing his support for Israel and floated the idea of American intervention. Iran said that Trump betrayed them as they had been involved in peace negotiations. Trump also lost some support from his MAGA base that wants to stay out of foreign wars.

Trump authorized the bombing of Iran’s three nuclear enrichment facilities, but infrared footage shows that US bunker buster bombs did not penetrate deep enough to take out the enriched uranium cylinders at the Fordow nuclear site. The cylinders were likely moved before the bombing campaign. Johnson said that Trump lied that Iran’s nuclear capabilities were obliterated.

Johnson said that Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu presented President Trump with a scheme to bomb Iran with the plan that Iran would collapse internally. But the senior military officers who were killed were replaced and Iran started fighting back. Israel lost two oil refineries, the Ben-Gurion International Airport was closed, and Western-backed military businesses, including the Weizmann Institute, were destroyed. If the fighting continued, Johnson said that Israel would have lost the war within two weeks.

The Truth About The “12 Day War!”

“Analysts said that Trump was willing to intervene in Israel’s war on Iran that began due to Israel’s provocation on June 13, 2025 until Iran fought back and caused extensive damage. They said that if the fighting continued, Israel would have been defeated within 2 weeks.

The Washington Post recently revealed that Israel’s attack on Iran was planned last year, and was not based on new intelligence that Iran was any closer to developing nuclear weapons, as they claimed.

Trump bombed Iran’s three nuclear facilities, but infrared footage indicates that there was little damage to the facilities, despite Trump’s claims that the sites were “obliterated.”

An Israeli court announced they would postpone Netanyahu’s testimony in his corruption trial that was scheduled for this week, but they refused to drop the charges, despite Trump’s demand.”

The Washington Post recently revealed that Israel’s attack on Iran was planned last year, and was not based on “new intel” that Iran had come any closer to developing nuclear weapons. Here is an excerpt from WaPo:

“In private conversations, however, senior Israeli government officials said they had already decided by March, weeks before Netanyahu met Trump in the Oval Office on April 7, to strike Iran with or without U.S. participation by June at the latest, said two people with knowledge of the matter. The reasoning was that Iran would have rebuilt its air defenses by the latter half of the year, one of the people said.

Ultimately, when Netanyahu finally launched his surprise attack on Iran in the early hours of June 13 while Trump’s negotiations were still underway, the decision was not so much driven by new intelligence indicating an Iranian sprint for a nuclear weapon or any imminent threat to Israel. Rather, Israel seized on what it saw as a unique opportunity to execute plans, carefully laid months and years in advance, to heavily damage a weakened Iran that had long waged a bloody proxy conflict with Israel and to set back Iranian nuclear and missile programs, Israeli and U.S. officials and advisers to both governments say.”

Trump Demands Israel Drop Corruption Charges

President Trump is threatened to cut off aid to Israel - if they refused drop their prosecution of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on charges of bribery, fraud and breach of trust.

Critics have pointed out that Netanyahu has prolonged the war in Gaza in order to stay in office and stave off the corruption trial that awaits him.

One day after Trump issued this threat, an Israeli court announced they would postpone Netanyahu’s testimony in his corruption trial that was scheduled for this week.
